Obituary for William Holcomb

William Holcomb
On June 26, 2015, the world lost a Gentle Giant. Bill Holcomb, Sr., a man who ironically had the biggest heart in the world, passed away due to complications from a heart transplant. Bill was happy right up to the end of his life in Naples, FL. He was a constant source of fun and laughter as well as a solid rock to his friends and family. We all loved him so much; the world is a sadder place without him in it.

Bill was the beloved husband to Lynda, and the most patient father in the world to Stephani (Nacer), Bill, Jr. (Jessica), and April-Mary (Rodney). He was step-father to Jason Bloom. He was the son of John (Virginia) and the late Irene Holcomb. He was brother to Sherry (Larry) Humberson his stepsister Jennifer (Doug) Affolter and uncle to Kenny. His great joy was to be grandfather to Jordan, Ashley, Taylor, Katya, Benjamin, Sabrina, Yasmine, Oliveia, Carter, and Ella. He leaves behind many friends and extended family, including Valeri Weinberger, in Ohio, Florida, and even France and Algeria.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015,11:00 AM, at Garden of Hope and Courage, 2nd Ave and 8th Street North, Naples, FL 34102. Phone number is 239-434-6697. Parking is available both at the venue and in the Naples Community Hospital parking garages.

William served in the Army Airborne Rangers, during the Vietnam War, he was awarded The Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign, and Army Commendation Medal (1st OLC), Good Conduct Medal.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Bill’s name to Garden of Hope and Courage, 1207 3rd Street South, Suite 205-A c/o Amy Lane, Naples, Fl 34102.

In celebration of Bill's life, please wear your brightest Florida clothes to his memorial service.
